What’s inside

  1. 1

    Google Tag for GA4

Fires on every page of your site and the booking engine, and receives the booking events Cloudbeds sends: engine load, add to cart, checkout, and purchase with revenue.

  2. 2

    Conversion Linker

Keeps Google Ads click IDs intact when a guest moves from your website to the Cloudbeds booking engine, set up for cross-domain.

  3. 3

    Two labelled variables

Your GA4 Measurement ID and your domain list. The only two things you edit.

  4. 4

    Notes on every item

Each tag explains what it does and what not to add, so the next person to open the container doesn't break it.

Setup

Installed in 4 steps, about 10 minutes.

  1. 1

    Import

In Google Tag Manager, open your container → Admin → Import Container. Choose the file, pick a new or existing workspace, and select Merge (rename conflicting items).

  2. 2

    Edit two variables

Variables → GA4 Measurement ID: replace G-XXXXXXXXXX. Cross-domain list: replace yourwebsite.com with your root domain.

  3. 3

    Publish and connect

Publish the container. In Cloudbeds, Settings → Booking Engine → Analytics → GTM Connection, paste your GTM ID. Install the same container on your website.

  4. 4

    Finish in GA4 and test

Add your domain and cloudbeds.com under Configure your domains, mark purchase as a key event, then make a test booking. Full steps in the Cloudbeds GA4 setup guide.

Why it’s this simple

Cloudbeds already sends the booking data. Most setups fail because nothing is there to receive it.

On a live Cloudbeds property we checked, GA4 received every booking-engine event, including purchases with full revenue, through a single Google tag. No custom event tags, no data layer code.

Questions

Does this template work with the Cloudbeds booking engine?
Yes. It is built for the Cloudbeds GTM connection. Cloudbeds sends its booking events as Google tag commands, and the template's Google tag receives them, including purchase with revenue and the reservation ID.
Will importing it overwrite my existing tags?
Not if you choose Merge when importing, ideally into a new workspace. Merge adds the template's tags and variables alongside yours. Review the workspace changes before you publish.
Do I still need to add a purchase event tag?
No. The Google tag picks up the purchase event Cloudbeds sends. Adding your own purchase tag on top risks counting every booking twice.
Is the template free?
Yes. Enter your name and email and the file downloads instantly.
