Does Immersive Experience 2.0 change how I track Google Ads on Cloudbeds?

The short answer

Yes, mostly for the better. Immersive Experience 2.0 is the booking engine as a web component on your own domain, so the booking doesn't jump to hotels.cloudbeds.com (Apple Pay, Google Pay and other third-party payments go to the provider's page and back). Cloudbeds says the Google tag or GTM container must be initialized on your website and that Google Ads needs manual setup there. Once a test booking shows purchase in GA4, the GA4 import steps apply.

Why

Cloudbeds' setup guide is explicit: "Google Analytics 4 / GTM: The Google Tag ID or GTM Container ID must be initialized on the hotel's website" and "Google Ads: Conversion tracking requires manual setup on the property's website." The purchase event lists immersive-experience as a source, so the booking events are built to fire on your site.

Three things to watch from the same guide. A consent banner can block Cloudbeds' resources unless they are marked essential (Cookiebot uses data-cookieconsent="ignore", OneTrust uses data-ignore-consent="true"). Search parameters such as UTMs are read only when the component first loads. Third-party wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay send the guest to the provider's page and back to the confirmation page.

We haven't yet run a test booking on an Immersive Experience 2.0 property. Confirm in GA4 DebugView that purchase lands in your property with a value and reservation ID before you trust the import.

What to do

  1. 1

Install your GTM container (or GA4 Google tag) on every page of your site, including the booking page. Cloudbeds doesn't inject it for you on this embed.

  2. 2

Follow the GA4 import steps: purchase as a key event, imported into Google Ads, set to Primary, 90-day lookback.

  3. 3

Make one test booking and watch DebugView and then Google Ads before you rely on either number.
